FAQs

Why did the SANS Technology Institute create the Tuition Payment Program (TPP)?

We created the TPP to make our programs more accessible for students who do not use employer education benefits or veterans’ education benefits to fund their program. Rather than pay for courses in full before each course, graduate students who use the TPP pay for their SANS.edu program in monthly installments without interest.

Is the Tuition Payment Program only open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents?

Yes, only U.S. citizens and permanent residents using a U.S. bank account are eligible.

When can I apply to enroll in the Tuition Payment Plan?

You can apply for the TPP after being offered admissions to one of our programs.

Will I have to pay interest for the Tuition Payment Program?

There is no interest for this program. You will only pay for courses that you register for and begin.

How do you determine eligibility for the TPP?

Applicants are evaluated based upon their credit report and other supporting financial information to determine eligibility. Those with a credit score under 700 or no credit history are unlikely to be approved.

How are my monthly payments collected?

We will set up automatic monthly withdrawals from the U.S. bank account you provide.

How will my monthly payments be affected if tuition increases while I’m in the program?

Your TPP account balance may increase based upon extra courses taken or tuition increases, and it may decrease based upon waived courses or exiting the program before completion.

Can I opt out of the Tuition Payment Program if I decide to fund my SANS.edu program another way?

Yes. There is no penalty fee for exiting the TPP if you secure alternative funding. You will have the option to continue monthly payments or pay off the remaining balance in full, and then your TPP account will be closed.

Can I start the Tuition Payment Plan after I have been in a SANS.edu program for a while, for example if I switch to a job that doesn’t offer employer-sponsored education benefits?

Yes. The TPP is open to new and existing students.

Can I combine the TPP with other funding sources like employer tuition assistance or GI Bill?

No, the TPP was designed for students who do not have access to other funding sources like employer tuition assistance or GI Bill. If you exhaust your GI Bill benefits part-way into the program, you can apply for the TPP at that time.

I am interested in an undergraduate program, but I’m not qualified for the TPP program. Are there alternative funding options for undergraduates?

Yes, undergraduates who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and don't qualify for the Tuition Payment Program can be considered for our Income Share Agreement.

I still have questions.

You can review all the details of the TPP in the SANS.edu Graduate Course Catalog.
