Tuition By Program

Master's Degree Program

In the master's degree program, tuition is set at a flat rate of $1,500 USD per credit hour. Therefore, the 36-credit master’s program will cost approximately $54,000 USD to complete. Tuition includes the cost of the course, textbooks, and certification tests that serve as mid-term or final exams for graduate courses. The cost of travel and lodging is in addition to the cost of tuition, for students who choose to attend in-person courses. Additional fees may also apply (e.g., application fees, exam retake fees).

Total tuition will be reduced by the full amount associated with any SANS course or GIAC certification that the student has already completed, up to the total amount allowed. See waivers.

Graduate Certificate Programs

In the graduate certificate programs, tuition is set at a flat rate of $5,700 USD per course. Tuition includes the cost of the course, textbooks, and certification tests that serve as mid-term or final exams for graduate courses. In total, a graduate certificate program is $22,800 to $28,500 USD over two years.

Total tuition will be reduced by the full amount associated with any SANS course or GIAC certification that the student has already completed, up to the total amount allowed. See waivers.

Bachelor's Degree Program

The cost for the portion of the bachelor’s degree program that students complete at the SANS Technology Institute is $40,500 USD over 2 years. Tuition includes the cost of the courses, textbooks, 6-credit internship, and certification tests that serve as mid-term or final exams for courses.

Total tuition will be reduced by the full amount associated with any SANS course or GIAC certification that the student has already completed, up to the total amount allowed. See waivers.

Applied Cybersecurity Certificate (Upper Division Undergraduate Program) 

The Applied Cybersecurity Certificate program is $18,600 USD over 7 months to 1.5 years, depending on the speed that a student completes the program. Students pay per course and tuition includes the cost of the course, textbooks, and certification tests that serve as mid-term or final exams for courses.

Total tuition will be reduced by the full amount associated with any SANS course or GIAC certification that the student has already completed, up to the total amount allowed. See waivers.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate (Lower Division Undergraduate Program) 

The Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate program is $3,000 USD over 6 to 9 months, depending on the speed that a student completes the program. Students pay per course and tuition includes the cost of the course, textbooks, and the certification test that serves as the final exam for the last of the three courses in the program.

Single Courses / Non-degree Seeking Students

An individual may take up to two courses as a non-degree seeking student prior to enrolling in a formal course of studies. Tuition for a single course is set at a flat rate of $6,500 USD per course. Tuition includes the cost of the course, textbooks, and certification tests that serve as final exams for graduate courses.

Additional Fees

Several fees may apply. All undergraduate and graduate degree programs, certificate programs, and single courses require a non-refundable application fee. 

Master's Degree Application Fee: $100 USD
Bachelor’s Degree Application Fee: $75 USD
Graduate Certificate, Undergraduate Certificate, and Single Course Application Fee: $35 USD

In the event of an exam failure, a student may be required to pay an exam retake fee. There are no other book or library fees.

Cancellation and Change Fees

SANS.edu students who wish to cancel and receive a refund for a course must submit a request by email to registrar@sans.edu. Requests must be received 45 days before the start of the course. Payments will be refunded by the method that they were submitted. Processing fees may apply.

Students who seek to change the venue, timing, or modality for a course should submit a change request to registrar@sans.edu. Requests must be received 45 days before the start of the course. Processing fees may apply. No transfers will be given once online course materials have been accessed, or additional course materials have been mailed to the student.

Pay Per Course

Students pay tuition per course which allows you the financial flexibility to pay smaller amounts as you go.

Employer-sponsored Education Benefits

Because the SANS Technology Institute is regionally accredited, tuition is eligible for most corporate tuition assistance and tuition reimbursement plans. The SANS Technology Institute works with many third-party tuition assistance administrators, including EdAssist/EdLink, on behalf of their corporate clients. Please refer to your company's benefits policy for more details.

VA Education Benefits

Most SANS Technology Institute degree and certificate programs are eligible for US and Canadian Veterans Education Benefits. For complete information on using your benefits at the SANS Technology Institute, please visit www.sans.edu/veterans.

Tuition Payment Program

The SANS Technology Institute Tuition Payment Program enables eligible students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents to spread out the cost of their program in monthly installments of $850 USD (or $650 for the undergraduate certificate program). This program charges no interest.

Income Share Agreement (ISA)

SANS.edu Income Share Agreements (ISAs) are offered to U.S. undergraduate students with financial need who demonstrate a high potential to succeed. ISA participants pay no tuition upfront. Instead, they agree to pay a fixed percentage of their income for a fixed period of time if they make at least $40,000 USD per year after graduation. All U.S. citizens who have been admitted to our Applied Cybersecurity Certificate and bachelor's degree programs are considered for the ISA. Note that the ISA does not apply to our lower division undergraduate Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate program.

Title IV Eligibility

The SANS Technology Institute is approved by the US Department of Education as an eligible Title IV institution. While we do not participate in Title IV funded student loan programs, eligibility status permits us to, from the date of eligibility forward, offer the following opportunities to our students:

  1. Provide a 1098-T to students who are funding part of their program cost in order for them to file for possible tax credit.
  2. Students may be eligible to utilize 529 educational funds where there is a state requirement for Title IV eligibility.
  3. Students may be eligible to utilize corporate or employer tuition reimbursement programs where Title IV eligibility is required.

Canadian Funding Options

All SANS.edu programs are eligible for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), Alberta Student Aid, and Canadian veterans’ education benefits. Learn more about funding options for Canadian students.

SANS Voucher Program

Prospective students seeking to use a SANS Universal Voucher Account should:

  • Confirm with your voucher administrator that course tuition is an eligible expense.
  • Upon admission, be prepared to provide your voucher account ID to admissions staff.

Students must contact their student advisors prior to registering for a course using a voucher account. Learn more about SANS Vouchers.

Additional Restrictions:

  • Fixed vouchers may not be used towards college course tuition.
