The undergraduate certificate program in Applied Cybersecurity provides a rapid pathway to an in-demand career, whether you're about to finish your associate degree, you're in a 4-year college program, or you're a mid-career professional who wants to transition into cyber security.
Minimum Program Requirements
- You don't need prior cyber security experience, but you must have completed at least 48 college credits from a recognized college or university, or obtained the equivalent international education, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.80.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old (or will be at the time of enrollment)

Admissions Deadlines
Application deadlines fall on the 15th of each month and application review takes up to 30 days. Upcoming deadlines are as follows:
If admitted, students will be eligible to join the next available New Student Orientation (NSO), which begin the first of each month. Only after a student completes New Student Orientation will they be allowed to register for their first course.
Note: if you intend to take an in-person course, we require students to apply 90 days before the start of the in-person event, to allow for time to get registered at a live event.

Steps to Enrollment
If admitted, you will receive a formal Offer of Admission and asked to confirm your enrollment in the SANS Technology Institute. You will also receive instructions for how to access the mandatory New Student Orientation.
Only after you complete orientation, will you be able to register for your first class.

Transcript Submission
For schools where a degree was conferred, please have your college/university submit official transcripts directly to transcripts@sans.edu. If electronic delivery is not an option, please mail official, sealed copies to:

Aptitude Assessment
Applicants to the SANS Technology Institute are required to complete a 2-hour online assessment which covers areas such as networking and operating systems, and measures general information security aptitude. After beginning your application, we will reach out by email with a link to complete this aptitude assessment.
IMPORTANT: If you have previously completed an aptitude assessment with SANS, as part of a prior application to SANS.edu or to a SANS Immersion Academy, please notify us at info@sans.edu.
Application Fee Submission
In order to complete the application process, students must submit the non-refundable $35 application fee. The fee can be paid online through our payment suite.
