Tuition

Tuition

Tuition is paid per course, but is set according to the student's academic program and matriculated status. In the master's programs, tuition is set relative to the credit hours earned per course, with courses ranging from one-half a credit hour to four credit hours. In the certificate programs, or for non-matriculated students who take single courses, tuition is set per course, regardless of the credit hours earned.

Master's programs

For courses taken as part of a master's program, tuition is set according to the credit hours assigned to each course or experience. The cost per credit hour is currently $1,250. Therefore, charges for individual courses in the program vary.

Because each master's program is comprised of courses requiring a cumulative 36 credit hours, the program will cost approximately $15,000 per year for three years, or $47,000 to complete. Fees, travel expenses or the additional costs of the capstone exams are in addition to these credit hour charges.

When a student is granted a waiver for an element of a graduate course, the tuition charged for that course will be reduced to reflect only the remaining experiences required to complete the course for credit.

For a list of our courses and their tuition costs for each master's program, please review either MSISE Cost per Course or MSISM Cost per Course.

Post-baccalaureate Certificate Programs

Tuition for each course taken as part of a graduate certificate program is set at $5,000 per course, regardless of the credit hours earned for that course.

When a student is granted a waiver for an element of a graduate course, the tuition charged for that course will be reduced to reflect only the remaining experiences required to complete the course for credit.

Non-matriculated students taking single courses

Tuition per course for non-matriculated students is set at $5,250, regardless of the credit hours earned for that course.

Additional fees

Several fees may apply. The master's program requires a non-refundable, $250 application fee. No application fee applies to the post-baccalaureate certificate programs. Students who receive a waiver for course elements in the master's program are charged $125 per waiver, with a maximum cumulative waiver charge of $500. There are no other book or library fees.

Registration and payments process

Graduate students pay tuition or other fees directly to the SANS Technology Institute through specialized registration sites. Links to these sites may be found at http://www.sans.edu/students/registration. Tuition payments may be made by a student's employer for all or part of the course tuition, but the student is ultimately responsible to pay course tuition in full, prior to beginning the course.

Importantly, no discounts offered by the SANS Institute (parent of the SANS Technology Institute) may be applied to graduate courses taken from the SANS Technology Institute.

Special procedures often apply to the processing of tuition reimbursement funds. If you seek to have your tuition paid directly by your employer using a tuition reimbursement voucher or some other form of payment, please email admissions@sans.edu to request further information regarding how we can work with your tuition assistance plan. Tuition payments must be received before you begin a particular course.
