Information Security Engineering
- Individuals seeking admission into the Master's program in Information Security Engineering must have earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited college with a minimum 2.8* (on a 4 point scale) grade point average. Students with scores slightly below 2.8 may take up to two courses for credit without being admitted to the program. If the final grade on these two courses is 2.8 or above, that will qualify them for admission.
- The candidate must provide evidence, through a letter of support from his or her employer explaining why the person would be a good candidate for the ISE program, that he or she has completed at least 12 months of professional work in information security or in another aspect of information technology, that the employer fully supports the candidate and sees the SANS program as an integral part of the candidate's professional development, and understands that the employee will be taking on significant responsibilities in time and effort. - The candidate must have three (3) years of significant work experience upon completion of the program
- Individuals must hold a GIAC Gold Level Certification from one of the courses pursued in the degree curriculum of choice.

NOTE: * Students with a minimum 2.5 GPA who have also earned at least two GIAC Gold certifications with qualifying scores will also be eligible for admission. Students with 2.5 GPA who have earned one Gold certification with a qualifying score may take an additional course that is part of the degree program they wish to enroll in for credit and then apply for admission.
